A new face to an old brand.

Website redesign for Schwend, Inc.

The project.

When Schwend, Inc. decided to redesign their original website, they come across the work we had done for Foltz Trucking and reached out to us. The trucking industry can be very competitive especially when it comes to hiring drivers – so having an updated website was a high priority for them.

Project Goal

Redesign the Schwend website to better reflect their brand and values.

Skills Used

Branding, graphic design, WordPress web development.

STEP #1

Project Discovery

To kick the project off we started by sitting down with the folks at Schwend, making sure we understood their company goals and problems – specifically what their needs were for developing a new site.  This allowed us to make sure that we knew how to best approach the project and represent their brand!

What makes Schwend different?

Nailing down the top 3 things that make Schwend different allows us to know where to focus with the content of the site.

What are Schwend's core values?

Defining their core values helps to define who they are and how to approach the design.

What will determine a successful site redesign?

What don’t you like about your current website? What are issues you see with it? What are you looking for in a new website design? As simple as this sounds, it’s important to define what success looks like before we even begin.

STEP #2

Style Design & Discovery

We started the design phase by creating a “stylescape” – where we nail down the visual look and feel of the site, and how the Schwend brand will be displayed. Once that was approved,  we designed the flow and layout of the site and content, making sure that their customers can find what they’re looking for as easily as possible.

Once that was complete, we created a mockup version of the site so that Schwend could have a clear picture of what the site would look like before we even wrote a single line of code!

The "Stylescape"

This document helps to define the visual look and feel of your site, and can act as a brand manual for the rest of your business identity.

Site Page Mockups

Before we start developing your site, we take time to make photorealistic mockups of the main pages so that you can know exactly what you’re getting and give us any feedback you have before we even start coding your site!

STEP #3

Site Development & Launch

Once the design direction was established and the page mockups finished, the next step was to build out the site! We built the site using the WordPress framework along with the Divi theme to allow easy editing/updating later on by the Schwend team. Once the site buildout was complete, the next step was to finish the content for the site!

Mobile Optimization

With over 60% of all web traffic wordwide coming from mobile devices, it’s important that any website be easily accessible and look good no matter the screen size or aspect ratio. We used responsive design to design the Schwend site to scale, adapt and look good on any screen size!
